Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and we now enter the period of fasting and preparation as we journey toward Easter. There are 40 days in Lent since Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness. On March 15 we also celebrate Mothering Sunday. March 29 is Palm Sunday and Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. Good Friday falls on April 3 and Easter Sunday on the 5

During Lent we fast (usually on a Friday) because fasting reminds us of our Lord (it is not a slimming programme!). Some people take on something rather than giving something up. Take your choice.

Each Friday throughout Lent the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 5.45 in the church. Do join us if you can.

Finally Bishop Luke is encouraging us all to attend the Chrism Mass on Monday March 30 in Chelmsford Cathedral. During this special service Priests renew their vows and Holy Week begins. Do attend if you are able
