Vicars of Thorpe-le-Soken

In 1147 the Canons of St Paul's granted the church at Thorpe to Thomas the priest for a period of three years at the rent of one mark.
The record of Vicars below was made during the incumbency of the late Brian Shannon. It is made up of material from various sources and is as accurate as it can be, given that many records at St Paul's Cathedral were lost in the Great Fire of London and the possibility that local records were lost during the rebuilding of the parish church when workmen were said to have burned the contents of the parish chest on Mill Meadow, mistaking it for rubbish.
